We
must have been heard or read the story of Joseph the dreamer. It’s a story of a
young man who had to experience so much suffer before he finally became the
second ruler over Egypt. What an inspiring story, because we can learn a lot of
things from it.
One
of the most interesting point to pay attention from Joseph’s life experience is
how God loved and faithfully was with him. It had become his key of success.
The
bible does mention that Joseph was well-build and handsome, but it wasn't the
reason why he earned great trust, whether it was from Potiphar, the warden, or
the Pharaoh. He was trusted for he always did the best in everything he did,
and by God’s approval, he succeeded. It didn’t only stop there, the place where
Joseph lived was also blessed because of Joseph.
From
the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the
LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of
the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field.
Gen. 39:5
It’s
amazing, wasn’t it? Because of Joseph, Potiphar was blessed. Because of Joseph,
people in the prison were blessed. Because of Joseph, Egypt was also blessed.
Now,
what about us? Is someone blessed because of us? Is a place blessed because of
us? Is our family blessed because of us? Is our school blessed because of us?
Is our workplace blessed because of us?
Or
in contrary... Is it because of us there is no peacefulness in our family? Is
it because of us then our school become notorious? Is it because of us then our
workplace goes bankrupt?
This
is our homework in this world... be a blessing channel. It might be difficult
to do, but it isn’t impossible. We just have to count on God, make Him the only
reason for what we do, then we can always try to do the best in everything.
Father,
help me to be a blessing channel for others. I could have never done it without
You. Help me to do the best in all things, for You, Amen.
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever
curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.
Gen. 12:3
